Total Adventures invites your school to take part in one of our unique Wilderness Camps. Students are nurtured through a balanced involvement in the activities and camp life creating a greater awareness of themselves and other people.
Why choose a Wilderness Camp over another style of school camp?
Wilderness School Camps rely on group cooperation while fostering a sense of interdependence as participants explore their attitude towards themselves and their peers. The camps provide students with the opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills while exploring their own potential. Students become proactive in a number of different situations that involve trust, decision making and recognising the individual differences that make each of us unique.
Camp Glastonbury is set on 160 hectares of pristine private land adjacent to Brooyar State Forest, in the scenic Mary Valley north-west of Gympie. The level campground lies beside Glastonbury Creek. This quiet retreat contains rainforest, open eucalypt forest, Queensland best hoop pine plantations and panoramic views from high cliff-top lookouts and cool rainforest creeks. Patches of riverine rainforest fringe Glastonbury Creek. Glastonbury is just 20 minutes north-west of Gympie or two and a half hours drive north of Brisbane.

Individual programs can be designed based on the goal of the camp. Activities that lend themselves to relevant issues can be implemented to get the most out of each camp. Wilderness camps may also centre around one specific adventure activity.
The level of the camp activities varies according to age and experience of the group. Students are encouraged to participate in all activities and to use peer support as a means of motivation for others. Total Adventures practices the philosophy of Challenge by Choice and uses one on one support to assist students who want to do some of the more challenging activities, but need that extra support. Students also participate in the daily routines around camp that have just as strong an impact on individuals as the activities
“I wish to express my sincere thanks for the professional and very polished camp program you ran for our year 8 students. During the five days of our camp I observed quality presentations of all activities. Not only were these activities challenging and educational but also geared to gain maximum participation and enjoyment for all involved.”
West Moreton Anglican College.
The only way to really experience this magnificent region is through camping. But camping does not mean being uncomfortable. Students sleep in modern tents provided by Total Adventures and use a range of modern camping equipment.
One of the main features of any camp is the food. It is the one item that is remembered the most. Out in the wilderness where there is plenty of fresh air, students’ appetites seem as big as the outdoors. Total Adventures uses qualified chefs while on camp so catering is well balanced, nutritional and there is plenty of it.
